The Mart II

A quiet night somewhere between reality and memory.

This scene was built around the atmosphere of a late-night city after the rain empty streets, wet asphalt, distant headlights and the cold glow of a convenience store that feels almost like a refuge in the darkness. The 24H MART becomes the visual focal point, its pale fluorescent light cutting through the heavy blue-black atmosphere and reflecting endlessly across the flooded pavement.

I wanted the lighting to feel cinematic but imperfect: the warm street lamps contrasting with the cold interior light, red taillights bleeding into the puddles, and soft halos diffused by the rain and moisture in the air. The reflections help blur the boundary between the physical street and its reflection, creating a slightly dreamlike, almost nostalgic feeling.

The parked cars and scattered light sources give the scene a sense that something just happened — or is about to happen. There are no characters in sight, but the environment still feels strangely alive.

A study in rain, reflections, darkness and artificial light, created in Blender.
